After photographing him I moved him to the side of the road.
He was about 1 1/2 inches long.

The way they walk makes me think of dinosaurs.

Now he's gone and done it. Cracked the side walk to get at the ants.
Not as crisp as I would like but it was taken through the window.
The flicker was exploiting a crack in the side walk to get an easy meal.

Look what I did
Killdeer have simple nests, a scoop out in gravel. Unfortunately they like gravel parking lots.
